The establishment of trust or mistrust depends upon the child’s significant early relationships. Influencing these are differences in temperament and other characteristics, such as prenatal exposure to drugs. In these early relationships, we view early bonding and the sign of unfolding attachment between parent and child. In the comparison of secure and insecure attachment the impact of some influences such as sensitivity to the child’s needs, cultural values and temperament are highlighted. From the perspective of attachment the video examines development of stranger anxiety and separation anxiety. To insure strong relationships are present when child care is needed, three qualities of infant care are stressed. The impact of attachment relationships extends from eagerness to explore and learn in the world to extended relationships throughout life.
