Children learn about the similarities found in all seeds, while also discovering the differences which make each seed unique. They plant seeds and observe their germination and the ensuing growth of plants. They listen as their teachers discuss the different methods of propagation, such as seed, leaf, root and stems. They taste raw and cooked fruits and vegetables and compare the two. Throughout the process the students learn the value of documenting their activities, and are also taught to supplement the knowledge they’ve gained in their experiments by finding and reading books.
