Recognizing children’s fascination for
animals, this program presents a visual feast
as the children care for classroom pets.
We watch as children take nature walks to
find insects, spiders, worms and butterflies.
Teachers describe the discoveries made
about how living things move, how their
bodies are covered with fur, hair, scales or
shells; how they have differing numbers of
legs; and how they eat specific foods. We
observe children preparing a worm house
in the classroom, and we hear how songs
and stories are used to help introduce
children to the topics.
